Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe latest Brut sparkler continues to please using the traditional method, offering an almost Prosecco-like character. It spends 15 months on its lees, which adds a light leesy autolytic note, leaving the riesling dominant fruit (plus chardonnay) to shine, albeit with a bump of residual sugar (13 g/L). Look for pears, honey, and apples throughout the ready-to-drink fizz. Perfect for a sunny patio or aperitif.Tasted: 20 December 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrind Brut is a new sparkling wine to enter the market, and an early release from Frind Estate is just starting to get underway on the west shores of Okanagan Lake south of Quails' Gate. It is styled for early release, and with 12.87 grams of residual sugar, the build is friendly, but it's not overly sweet, thanks to the always-present natural BC acidity. It should work with any number of spicy appetizer bites. Solid.Tasted: 17 October 2020Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is traditional method sparkling wine that should appeal to Prosecco lovers. Aged for 15 months on its lees, there's a very subtle autolytic character, but this is really more about the fruit. A riesling-dominant blend, with 24 percent chardonnay, it combines crunchy tree fruits with floral aromatics. The noticeable dosage (13 g/L residual sugar) gives some honeyed character to the palate's fruit and makes this an easy-drinking bubble to pour as an aperitif.Tasted: 17 November 2020Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrind Estate Winery is a new lakefront winery on the historic Bennett Property in West Kelowna. Markus Frind purchased the property in 2017 after he sold his company Plenty of Fish. With over 500 years of family farming history, Markus wanted to combine his two passions; technology and agriculture. He employed Erik von Krosigk, ex-of Summerhill, to make the wines. This is a blend of riesling and chardonnay in a fresh, off-dry, traditional method fizz. A short amount of time on lees and a generous bump of RS keeps this fruit-forward, showing off the region's orchard bounty of pear, apple, and blossoms. Youthful and easy, take this with a brunch or sunny patio.Tasted: 20 October 2020Tasted by: Prices:
