Frind Estate The Premier 2019
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaI have to say it is refreshing to see a highly capitalized BC winery launch its first flagship red at only $39.99. The Premier is a blend of the well known, the known, and the unknown, also a bit of a shock. The mix is stated in this order: merlot, cabernet franc, regent, syrah, and marechal franc, and it presents with a very clean, strawberry, cherry nose and palate. The tannins are soft and well-integrated into the wine; the texture is its best lead at the moment. There’s a lot of technology behind this wine, from picking, to sorting, to crushing, and it shows in its sense of balance and freshness. Many small lots were fermented in isolation and carefully blended by winemaker Eric von Krosigk before going to bottle. On the light and elegant side, you can drink it now and it is best served with roasted meats and vegetables.Tasted: 24 March 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $37.99 | 750ml | winery direct |
